To mark the 100th anniversary of the third attempt to climb Everest, we present the official film that was shot on location at the time. Whether the expedition reached the summit remains uncertain. The footage, filmed with a camera specially adapted to the harsh conditions of the Himalayas, is an important historical and ethnographic document and of extraordinary beauty, with some of the earliest known footage of Tibetan life.
The silent work is musically accompanied by the trio MUT (Thomas Rohrer: Rabeca, Michael Vorfeld: percussion, Ute Wassermann: voice)
