AnimalNacht is a long-term project by Liz Allbee, Ute Wassermann and Olaf Hochherz that has been running since 2012. AnimalNacht explores the unknown realm of human, animal and computer-generated sounds in various spatial and acoustic configurations. AnimalNacht is complemented by flutist Marina Cyrino, who extends her flute with bird whistles and water-based preparations, creating an external lung with a continuous and dynamic sound volume. With trumpet, conch shell, voice, bird whistles and flutes, objects, extensions and feedback-based synthesis, AnimalNacht + Marina Cyriono create various sound hybrids and fantastic ecological worlds.
The concert series sounding ways of being 2, curated by Ute Wassermann, is about sound affinities, mixtures and interactions of voice, electronics, instruments, objects and the element of water, inspired by the research of artist James Bridle: Humans are closely intertwined with an intelligent environment that encompasses the intelligence of animals, plants and machines. The second edition of this series is dedicated to the artistic exploration of the complex subject of ‘field recordings’, which serve as inspiration or starting point.
