Plankton / Krill

for voice, bird whistles, field recordings & amplified aquarium

für Stimme, Vogelpfeifen, Field Recordings & amplifiziertes Aquarium

An imaginary acoustic habitat of insects and bird calls vibrates under water. As soon as the singer fishes for sounds with the hydrophone, they morph – alienated by the resonant space of water – into a disembodied, metallic-technological soundscape. The singer comments on and transforms the other-than-human voices and becomes part of the soundscape herself. Does her voice remain human or does it become other? The aquarium turns into a miniature habitat, sound object and laboratory.

Krill (series Plankton) is an imaginary acoustic habitat for voice, field recordings and floating objects.

Krill has been commissioned by Villa Aurora in 2024
